Itinerary
Your unforgettable 4-day safari begins with a 7 AM pickup from your Nairobi accommodation or the airport. You'll embark on a scenic journey to Samburu Game Reserve, with a memorable stopover at the Equator line in Nanyuki. Here, you can witness the fascinating phenomenon of water swirling in opposite directions on either side of the equator.
After this unique experience, you'll continue your drive to Samburu, arriving at Samburu Sopa Lodge in time for lunch. Following a brief relaxation, you'll set out for an evening game drive across the rugged terrain of Samburu. You'll explore the reserve’s rich wildlife, including the reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and the gerenuk, also known as the “giraffe gazelle.” After an exhilarating adventure, you will return to the camp for dinner and an overnight rest.
You'll wake up early for a delicious breakfast before heading out for a full day of exploration. Your morning game drive will take you deep into the heart of the Samburu Game Reserve, giving you the chance to spot rare wildlife and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
You'll enjoy a relaxing lunch at Samburu Sopa lodge, followed by a cultural visit to the local Samburu village (optional}, where you can learn about the customs and traditions of this fascinating community. In the afternoon, you'll take another thrilling game drive as you search for the Big Five and other exotic animals that call this region home. As the day draws to a close, you'll return to the camp for a well-deserved dinner and another restful night under the African stars.
After breakfast, you will check out of Samburu Sopa lodge and embark on a scenic drive to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve.
You will stop for lunch along the way, then proceed to your accommodation at Zebra Mara Camp, where you’ll check in and unwind. The camp offers comfortable amenities and spectacular views of the Mara landscape.
In the late afternoon, you'll enjoy a game drive in the Maasai Mara, renowned for its vast savannahs and dense populations of wildlife, including lions, elephants, leopards, and cheetahs. As the sun sets over the Mara plains, you'll return to Zebra Mara Camp for dinner and an overnight stay, reflecting on the unforgettable sights of the day.
On your last day in the Masai Mara, you'll start early with an optional sunrise game drive to catch the final glimpse of the incredible wildlife and the golden hues of the savannah. You'll return to your lodge around 8:00 AM for breakfast, then take time to freshen up and pack. By 9:30 AM, begin your drive back to Nairobi, which typically takes 5.5 to 6.5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Along the way, you'll enjoy the scenic views of the Great Rift Valley and stop in Narok Town for lunch or a quick snack. You may also pause at the Rift Valley viewpoint for photos. Expect to arrive in Nairobi around 4:00 PM, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport. Alternatively, if you're flying, morning flights from Masai Mara to Wilson Airport take about one hour and usually depart between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, providing a faster and more comfortable option. Either way, your last day will be a memorable farewell to Kenya's natural beauty.
